The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)

Very good. Unexpectedly. My expectations were lower.

Two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them.

Oh wow! It would be pretty difficult to understand what they say without subtitles! I really like the way they talk! That’s how I learned that Colin Farrell is Irish.

Well, that’s my second movie with him, the first one being True Detective, Season 2. Solomia says we should watch In Bruges (2008).

So, the year is 1923. As I was saying that the timeline is unclear, but since it’s a civil war, then it was probably a century ago. Their interpersonal conflict, it must be related to Irish Civil War, I guess.

So Colm is Alastor ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody, meaning Brendan Gleeson.

Oh, gross. He did keep his promise, didn’t he, like?

I like their language. Am I allowed to use fecking from now on? I’m not Irish, but I like it!

At least we understand now what’s in the name. He likes the double sh-sh. There are no banshees in Inisherin, which is their island, I assume. Which is fictional.

Took us three days to watch the film. And four or even five attempts. About 20 minutes each.

Why were they fighting? Why the donkey and the young man? It looks so pointless, all that.

Good film. It’s my cup of tea, I cannot slap a masterpiece at it, but I can recommend. If your taste in films similar to mine, go watch it.
