Two lost souls visiting Tokyo — the young, neglected wife of a photographer and a washed-up movie star shooting a TV commercial — find an odd solace and pensive freedom to be real in each other’s company, away from their lives in America.
Starting the movie with the buttocks of Scarlet Johansen is so bad taste. Maybe I’m too 2026. And that was normal 23 years ago. But this sexualisation of her seems unnecessary.
We watched half of the film, and honestly I’m hesitating whether to continue. So far, I was thinking whether to start another tag, called garbage. On the other hand, the disappointment tag serves the same purpose.
By the way, for some reason I expected this film to be a romantic love story. So at least thanks it isn’t. I guess.
We finished watching the movie. Is it a love story of a kind?
Anyway. Garbage. Waste of time. Even Japan did not save it.
Two bored to hell rich Americans are in Japan, which they don’t like. Zero interest to their great culture, only drinking in the bar of their hotel. Which they mostly never leave. Both having some presidential rooms, by the way.
Is Sofia Coppola not even slightly talented? Was this level of production and overall quality acceptable back in 2003? I think I’ve seen quite a lot of old movies, but this is an absolute garbage by every single measure. Well, titties at 1:03:35, they were good. What for though? Looks like a check list of a popular movie, right? Pre PornHub times, aren’t we?
I regret of these two hours.
