The world is a perplexing, peaceful mystery to Amélie until a miraculous encounter with chocolate ignites her wild sense of curiosity. As she develops a deep attachment to her family’s housekeeper, Nishio-san, Amélie discovers the wonders of nature as well as the emotional truths hidden beneath the surface of her family’s idyllic life as foreigners in post-war Japan.
I cannot believe this was a bit over an hour. Probably the best thing I watched over the course of the last year or so. Of course, here I didn’t hesitate for a second of the masterpiece tag. Now, I’m even a bit sad I devalued the tag by giving it to other films. Yet, I’m not striving for the objection here.
It’s so good, I wonder why isn’t this in the cinemas? Why we have shit like Moana instead?
Also, it was the first-ever movie we watched in AVIF. Was OK on my very cheap very old Radeon GPU (R7 240/340). Or Intel 2nd Gen. HD Graphics (HD2000, I think). 1080P though, not 4K. And Kodi as a media player.
